Argentina's March inflation expected to exceed 3%

According to preliminary reports from private consultancies, March inflation is again expected to close near 3%. It is even not ruled out that it could be above the 2.9% recorded in January and February. 'Our price survey shows an increase of 0.8% in the third week of March for a basket of food and beverages in supermarkets. The last 4 weeks accumulate 3.5%,' stated the Econviews consultancy. It should be clarified that for this consultancy, the average of the last four weeks reached an increase of 1% in the last week of February. Meanwhile, for EcoGo, led by Marina Dal Poggetto, 'with all categories surveyed, general inflation is projected to be around 3.0% monthly'. The firm stated that 'although the food sector showed a slowdown compared to the previous week, its monthly variation has ceased to be the focus of pressure this month. The push in the general index is fundamentally explained by the seasonality of Education (12%) and Clothing (5%), added to the drag of adjustments in tariffs and fuels'. Meanwhile, for LCG, there was a deceleration in food prices of 0.2% in the third week of March, breaking with two previous weeks of increases of 1%. Thus, the monthly dynamics stood at 3.1%, while the accumulated is 2.4%. In recent hours, President Javier Milei modified his speech and said he expects to eliminate inflation during his term. This week, Dairy (+1.4%) and Greengrocery (-0.5%) stand out.
